MARRIAGE BY REGISTRATION IN NEPAL

This guide simplifies the Marriage by Registration (Court Marriage) process under Part-3 of Muluki Civil Code, 2074 (2017).

Concerned Authority:

  • Concerned District Court (If the Applicants are in Nepal
  • Nepali Embassy or Consulate General (If the Applicants are outside of Nepal

Eligibility Criteria for Marriage in Nepal:

 1. Man and Woman should agree to accept each other as husband and wife
 2. Man and woman shouldn’t be relatives punishable by law on incest
 3. Matrimonial Relationship of both the man and the woman does not exist
 4.Both man and woman have attained twenty years of age

Documents Required for Nepali Citizens to marry in Nepal:

 4.No objection Letter from the ward office of male and female stating that they are single
 5.Minimum of 15 days temporary residence letter from the concerned ward office, if the person is concluding marriage from another district other than of his permanent address

Documents Required for Foreigners who want to marry in Nepal:
