Where NGOs are registered??
In Nepal, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) are registered at the District Administration Office (DAO) of the relevant district where the NGO is to be established. Once the DAO registration is complete, you can apply for an affiliation certificate from the Social Welfare Council to officially begin operations.

Step-by-Step Registration Process:
Step 1: Obtaining a recommendation Letter from the Local Level Ward Office
Step 2: Obtaining a Recommendation Letter from the District Coordination Committee
Step 3: Registration of NGO at the District Administration Office
Step 4: Tax registration at the Inland Revenue Department
Step 5: Affiliation from the Social Welfare Council
Note: A minimum of 7 founding members is required to establish an NGO in Nepal
Documents Required for registration:
- A copy of the minutes of the meeting of the ad-hoc committee regarding approval to establish the proposed NGO
- Certified copy of the citizenship certificate of all board members
- Passport-sized photo and copies of character reports from Nepal Police of all members from the relevant districts
- Proposed draft of Organisation’s Constitution
- Rent agreement between the proposed NGO and the house owner of the office of the NGO
